Accessibility is often treated as a set of requirements applied after main design decisions. This wheelchair-accessible bathroom takes a different approach, exploring how accessibility can shape the aesthetic and spatial experience from the initial concept.
Designed to support independent mobility and aging in place, the project goes beyond standards and off-the-shelf solutions toward an environment tailored to individual needs and well-being. Here materials, fixtures, lighting, and spatial relationships work together to blend technical functionality with intentional aesthetics.
For people who regularly encounter physical barriers throughout the built environment, home can offer something different: a space shaped around one’s own body, mobility, and experience. Here, accessibility becomes more than accommodation; it is central to wellness, comfort, autonomy, and a richer everyday experience.
